Beach Bag Checklist

The long Easter weekend kick starts a series of mini vacations at the seaside.
Trinis love a spontaneous overnight stay at a beach house, or a spur of the moment trip to Tobago. Who does not enjoy waking up to the rhythm of the breaching waters, and being lulled to sleep in a hammock with goodnight kisses from the cool salty air?
In our fantasies we would all stroll around like Daryl Hannah in Splash, dressed in nothing but our long wavy tresses to cover our bodies. In reality, packing for a weekend at the beach involves some strategic planning-- I know you want to pack EVERYTHING, but walking in with 10 pieces of luggage gives off an impression much less concordant with the easy-breezy weekend.

So how do you pack all that you need in 15 mins, and still manage to look (and smell) cute all day and night?

I got you. Don't worry.

Here's a checklist of all you should need for a weekend (Friday to Sunday)- and It will all fit in 1 med/large travel bag!

  •  For frolicking in the sand, you may want to whip out every new bikini you own- but before you indulge in 2 hours of modelling in the mirror trying to make the decision, use this formula:

  1. 1 Classic cut one piece swimsuit in a neutral colour
  2. 3 mix and match bright bikini separates
  3. Abstract patterned Sarong (Doubles as a skirt and dress)
  4. Metallic Flip Flops/ Sandals

  • Skincare is VERY important when you're facing so much radiation! Instead of walking with full-size bottles of moisturizers, invest in smaller container into which you can empty your favourite products. Another option is to get the travel sizes, or use samples! This can all fit in one pouch.
  1. Sun Block (Safe for Face and body)
  2. Body Lotion with Aloe Vera or Shea butter
  3. Night Time Facial moisturiser
  4. Lip Balm with SPF
  5. Moisturizing Shampoo
  6. Travel size Moisturising soap (For face and body)
  7. Mini Toothpaste and Toothbrush (Save the little brush you get on long flights! Super tiny)
  8. Deodorant (Fantasy Carnival gives a mini one in their goodie bags)
  • The Basics: The key to packing lightly is to have versatile pieces that can be paired with one another.
  1. 1 Solid Neutral tank top
  2. Denim Cut-off shorts
  3. a couple pairs of underwear
  4. Pajama Pants
  5. Towel* You can take along a Beach bag for when you're out of the house, and on the sand. Pack towel, hat and beach mat in here.
  6. Sunglasses
  • The Essentials
  1. Glasses, Contact Lenses, Medication/ OC (If you need these daily)
  2. Allergy Meds
  3. Pain killers
  4. Band Aids
  5. Cel Phone and Charger
  6. Cash
  7. Toilet Paper

*This list includes what you can wear on the trip to and from your mini-vacay!

Hope it makes it easier for you to get everything together! This way you can be out much earlier and get to the Bake and Shark before the long ass lines!!!
